Selah is a photo app for you and the few people closest to you. This page says what Selah keeps, why, who else handles it for us, and how to delete it. "We" means Selah. If anything here is unclear, write to tqtien.a11619@gmail.com.
What Selah keeps
- Your account. Your email and password, or the Apple or Google account you sign in with. The password is kept only as a hash, which can't be turned back into it. Your display name, username, buddy and profile photo.
- Your birthday. Your people see the day and month and get a reminder on it. The year is used only to check that you are 13 or older, and is never shown to anyone.
- What you share. Photos, 3-second clips, captions, moods and their notes, reactions and chat messages.
- Places, if you add one. Selah asks for your location only while you use the app, and only when you add a place to a moment. It keeps the name of the street, district or city. The GPS position is removed from every photo and clip before it is stored.
- Your people. Who you are connected with and how (dating, friend or family), requests, blocks and reports.
- Your phones. The address each phone gives us for notifications, and the IP address and device type of each phone you are signed in on, to keep your account safe.
- Search words. So you can search your moments, your phone itself finds labels and text in your photos. Only those words are kept with the moment. Your photos are not sent to any AI service.
- Crashes and use. When the app breaks, we get a report of what went wrong, with no name, email, photos or messages in it. We count which features get used (like "a moment was posted"), never what is in them.
Who sees it
- A moment goes only to the people you are connected with and send it to. Nobody else sees it.
- Anyone with your username or profile link can see your display name, username and buddy, so they can send you a request.
- Selah does not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- We look at what you share only when someone reports it, or when you ask us for help with it.
Services that help run Selah
These companies handle data for us, only to do their part:
- Railway: our servers, database and file storage.
- Expo, Apple and Google: deliver notifications to your phone.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, if you use their accounts.
- Resend: sends our emails, like the one that checks your address or resets your password.
- Apple Maps, Google Places and Apple WeatherKit: the place name and weather for a moment, if you add them. They get a position, not who you are.
- Sentry: crash reports.
- PostHog: the feature counts.
Where it is kept, and how
Selah's servers and files are in Singapore, so your data may be handled outside your country. Photos and clips sit in private storage and open only through links that expire within an hour. Everything travels encrypted.
How long it is kept
- What you share stays while your account exists. When you delete a moment, its photo or clip is deleted too.
- If someone reports a moment, its file is kept, hidden, until we have looked at the report, even if it was deleted.
- Deleting your account is in the app's settings. You show as "Deleted user" right away, and your connections and moments disappear from other people's screens. For 7 days you can sign in and undo it. After that, your account, moments and files are deleted for good. Chat messages you sent stay with the person you sent them to, and reports about you are kept.
Your choices
- Change your name, username, buddy and photo in the app.
- Turn notifications or location off in your phone's settings at any time.
- Write to tqtien.a11619@gmail.com to get a copy of your data, fix it or delete it. We answer within 30 days.
Children
Selah is for people 13 and older, and sign-up turns down anyone younger. If you think a child under 13 is using Selah, write to us and we will delete the account.
This website
selah.pics has no cookies, no analytics and no ads. If you pick light or dark, your browser remembers it, and it never leaves your device. Our host keeps short request logs (IP address, page and time) to keep the site running.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. For a big change, Selah tells you in the app first.
